I was glad to see that our church had a web site. I will be sure to revisit it so I can ready the history and the information about our patron saints. I was especially pleased with the Life Teen calendar. This will make it easy for Eddie, Ed and I to keep up with what is happening in the program. Thank You! Laura Gonzalez

Dear friends in Christ. I made a search at Info-seek for the word "liturgical games" and your home page came up as one of five alternatives. My name is Tor Walderhaug, and I am regional secretary in the Norwegian Student Christian Movement, in the city of Trondheim. Currently I'm working on the familiy-liturgies we use for our senior friend and their children. The main purpose of these liturgies is to ensure that the children participate on the same level as the adults. F.ex instead of a sermon, we play the text or a theme together. So out of curiosity I've searched the wwweb for similar actitivities for inspiration. I couldn't find the search word "liturgical games", but if you are engaged in games and plays like I mentioned, I would be grateful if you could pass any information. In Trondheim, Norway, spring is finally here, with temperatures rising to 10-15 degrees Celsius, and the snow is evaporating before our very eyes. A long winter (since mid-october) is coming to an end. I you would like to visit us in Trondheim try this adress: www.stud.ntnu.no/studorg/nksf It's all in Norwegian, but that's onlu a challenge, isn't it? I wish you God's blessings on your work.

Tor Walderhaug, Trondheim, Norway

I'm really impressed with SSCM's web site. I went to SSCM school since I was in first grade. That was 32 yrs. ago and I'm still a parishoner. It's exciting to see that our church is keeping up with the latest technology and it's a fantastic way to keep the public informed with current events. I'd also like to encourage an area for special intentions. Possibly because I have one at the moment. Please pray for Prajedes M. Torres, a parishoner of SSCM, who is going through a very trying period at this time. Pray that he be reunited with his family soon. I'd also like to extend a special thank you to Monsignor Larry White for his prayers and letter of support.

Thanks, Debbie Montez

JUST READ ABOUT THE JUBILEE OF THE YEAR 2000

I'VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS SINCE I WAS IN GRADE SCHOOL, LIVING IN CORPUS CHRISTI UNTIL 1958. NO ONE I TALK TO ACTS LIKE THEY HAVE EVER HEARD OF THIS.

VERY HAPPY TO SEE THIS INFORMATION.... EVERYONE THINGS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END IN 2000..... BUT I BELEIVE THE TRUTH IS COMING OUT IN THE YEAR 2000. CHURCH'S ARE ALREADY STARTING TO PREPARE FOR IT. LOOK AROUND YOU AND SEE HOW PEOPLE AND CHURCHES ARE CHANGING. PRAISE GOD!!!! WE DO HAVE A LOVING, CARING GOD THAT " IS WITHIN" ALL OF US, WE DON'T HAVE TO GO ANYWHERE TO BE WITH HIM. IF HE ISN'T "WITHIN US" HOW ELSE DOES HE KNOW OUR EVERY THOUGHT, WORD AND DEED? DO YOU REALLY BELEIVE THAT HE ONLY GIVES US " O N E " CHANCE (LIFE) TO BE HERE AND IF WE ARE GOOD, WE GET TO GO TO HEAVEN, AND IF WE'RE BAD, WE GO TO HELL AND BURN FOR EVER!!!!! I think it is nice that Msgr. White would take the time to update this web page. Most web pages from the Churches in C.C. (few that there are!) are created and forgotten. This is an up and coming outlet that we, as Catholics, need to take advantage of to reach out to others....nice to know Msgr. White is already doing this. Frank and Yvonne Recio

Hi Monseignor: I stumbled in accidentally, and enjoyed your message on the beneficial health effects of religious belief. I was in the process of searching for a publication called "The Wanderer", which I believe to be a Catholic newspaper, either national or diocesan, I am not sure. God bless you and your flock, and have a nice picnic.

I noticed a reference in the church bulletin about a 'study bible', which could be purchased from the office. Can you send me a sample page(s) or a brochure of what the study bible contains? I work out-of-town and do not usually get to Corpus Christi before the office closes @ 5p.m.

Incidentally, might it be possible to place our Mass Intention requests via this website? Payment could then be mailed.

Are you the only Catholic church in Corpus Christi that has a website?

Thanks, dj :-)

Hi Larry. . .

Dennis Ziegler called and said my last guestbook entry was garbled. Basically, I cut and paste some HTML into this space. It basically fancies up the font and color of my entry. The entry itsel was a "congrats" on a nice site (with some promotional features like our web address :)

My name is Tobias and I take care of our website (www.zieglers.com). If there's anything I can do for you, let me know. Or. . . if you'd like to see something on our site that's not there. . .

Thanks.

A CHRISTMAS PRAYER HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING =========================== I pray that the holidays stirs our conscious to extend our love to help the suffering.

We should be seizing the moment to celebrate the jewish, muslim, and christian holidays by ending this disastrous situation with exercising some basic religious concepts:give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's and unto God what is God's. We need to give the Iraqi's clean drinking water, food, and medical supplies. We should be working with behavior modification experts so that we can all enjoy some peace on earth instead of the release of chemical viles in retaliation for our denial of the Iraqis' human rights. The military can no longer solve anything given what a vile of homemade poison can do to us.

Can you then have your church's carollers and/or parishioners dedicate this Christmas season the carol "peace on earth, mercy mild, God and sinner reconcil".to the plight of the Iraqis? Sing it at public or private vigils, sing it at mass, and most of all sing it at all the Christmas masses so that these people know that they are not foresaken.

In closing, it would be great if you can email your local newspaper's editor, call your local radio station, and any other form of a news media that you have at your disposal to let them know what you are doing. Email also the Vatican and other neighborhood churches. Peace activists are hoping that our display of sympathy for the Iraqis.will be strong enough to light up the world with human warmth by Christmas Day. The UN Missions have been emailed and asked to notify their local and home country churches as well.

E. Feliu ======================== Here's one person's presentation: We adapted your suggestion. At our vigil yesterday, we all joined in singing "Peace on earth and mercy mild; peace------------on earth" over and over, intersperced with chants of Stop the sanctions! Stop the killing!" ============================================================ My basic email to UN Missions. Feel free to circulate and reuse =======================

Man will only stand for so much oppression before he revolts, and military tactics can no longer solve anything given what a vile of homemade poison can do to us. Therefore, we need to give the Iraqi's clean drinking water, food, and medical supplies, and employ behavior modification experts to bring out change.

We need to strive for peace not taunt retaliators Today, it was tear gas thrown into a Syrian crowd. Tomorrow, it might be a vile thrown at us. I hope that your representatives can hone in on this fact! ============================================================ "We were all dressed up with no place to go until Iraq!" said the little American bombs. "Now that we've been there and done that, what's next?"

Civil unrest, evacuated embassies, and tear gas has flown! American officials admitted that we faced a real possibility of retaliation. Some arabs did call for a jihad (holy war), and the Pope, the Vicar of Christ, is bitter! We probably haven't taken any precautions about preventing vulnerable spots (i.e., elevator shafts) from a suicidal sympathizer being able to release a homemade poisonous vile, but who cares. . .

Today, we little bombs are somebody and to everyone else a good night!

Respect the Iraqis' human rights. Give them clean drinking water, food, and medical supplies!

Support with words, deeds, and emails former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark's humanitarian effort. See his website: www.iacenter.org "Starvation of civilians as a means of warfare is prohibited." Article 54.1 . . . Geneva Convention 1977.

The Spirit of Jesus is found in each and every service we attend at SS Cyril and Methodius. My family give thanks to the Catholic church for sharing Monsignor White and enlightening our souls. The music is uplifting and helps the Spirit move among the congregation. It is hard to be Catholic in todays time. Attending services strenghten our beliefs and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

What time in the evening are the doors to the church locked? I really would like to visit in the evenings but now that tax season is on i dont get into town till after eight oclock. Please list the times that the doors are open so i can try to get in town in time. Thanks.

I am a visitor from San Antonio and had the wonderful experience of visiting your church on Sunday. I attended the 10:00 mass. Two of your special people shared their gifts with the parishioners and made the mass a unique experience for me. One was the brilliant clown who was so warm and funny in conveying his message to the children. Some of the parishioners told me his name was Percy and that he performs for the children occasionally. What a neat treat!! The other was the young cantor with the angelic voice. Some parshioners said her name was Vanessa and that she cantors every Sunday. What a blessing!! Judging by the amount of valentines she walked out of the church with, she must be a real inspiration to the children. The piano music was also so soothing. I hope to visit you church again the next time I am in Corpus Christi. God bless you Msgr. White and the SSCM parish.

Oh, I quite forgot. I'm building a homepage for our parish. So looking around for material. You can see about Catholic Church in Slovenia (where partly - in Panonia - St. Cyril and Methodius worked as missionaries and used 40 words of that time slovenian language) on http://www.rkc.si, but don't forget, the neighbours of Slovenia are Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. Pope John Paul II visits us on 19th of September for beatification of a bishop Anton Martin Slomsek. Pope also did a great job for our state renowing its independence on january 13th, 1992, then followed by Germany and other European states.

In our parish there are fathers franciscans. I'm studying theology, 5th year and am a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Again, peace and good!

Rok Pollak

I am a native Corpus Christian who was married in your church in Jan. '83 and recently have been attending mass when in Corpus for family visits. Especially, the Mariachi mass at noon. What a celebration! Moreso, I was very moved by the "closing" used at the end of the celebration of mass and was wondering if you would please send it to me so I can share with other parishioners from my current parish, St. Matthews Catholic Church in San Antonio. Thanks in advance.

I would like to say that SSMC is the best church that me and my family have ever attended. I enjoy the different masses and the way they all reach out to different people. What I love is that the church really tries to accomadate everyone, from the childrens mass with Percy the clown and the children's choir, to the marachi mass, to the teen life mass that has helped so many young lifes be able to connect to thier faith. Too many parishes, I believe, are afraid to change. Most of all I love the very inspirational sermons, they tend to touch my soul everytime. Keep up the good work and thanks, Teresa Light and family.

Hello Fr.Larry and Emilio,

The Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament last night has grown so much in just 3 weeks with at least 50 adults sitting in the light of His Love.

Just 3 weeks ago I would sit alone during a time frame of 6:45 to 7:30. Now I arrive about 7-7:15 and there are already 10 people. The Holy Spirit is so much a part of the people here and blessing your ministry to them. Thank you for all your prayers and works. God bless you both. Gail

I am a member of this parish (I have been ever since I was a baby) and just wanted to say that I have visited other churches and just love the way our church as changed & grown. Years ago I came to church and didn't get much out of going to church. Now, I enjoy reading the Bible readings before going to church and listen more to what the Priest is saying. Father White and Father Emilo have a gift to explain and teach what I was missing all those years prior. Thank you so much. I have learned so much and hope to learn more. I know my life has changed a lot these past few years, but I know that I'm going in the right direction.

Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever! This story may be of interest to Deacon Ron... As a premature baby at NAS Corpus I was baptized by my doctor on Aug 9, 1965. I was entered on the parish baptism roster on the 12th of September(?. My dad was transferred to Florida and then left the Navy, settling in New York, then when I was seven moving to Atlanta. Skipping alot of in between I am now in II theology at St. Charles borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia studying for the Archdioceses of Atlanta and the Military SErvices, USA. I know many of your seminarians studying here. But what is of importance to me is the place where I began my Christian life, Corpus Christi and Ss. Cyril and Methodius. If I can be of any help in the support of vocations within the parish let me know. God bless! Joseph M. Peek

Hello everyone! I just wanted to let whoever is not YET a member of our parish know that we have very special different types of masses for everyone to come and listen to the Word of God and celebrate the Eucharist with us. We have a 6:00 p.m. mass on Saturdays with a beautiful choir. On Sundays, at 8:00 a.m., we start our day with beautiful voices of our adult choir. At 10:00 a.m., the mass is geared more towards the little children and a special message in the homily for the children (& adults) to understand. The 12:00 noon mass is, of course, the Mariachi mass. What great music and great voices of these wonderful musicians. (They are SO talented, God bless them.) And at 6:00 p.m., the Life Teen group gathers (along with us oldies) to celebrate the Eucharist. How great it is to see how our teens get together (no matter what competitive school they belong to) and are not embarrassed to pray and worship together as a family. Thank you all for taking the time to read this. I am so proud to say that I am a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church! GOD bless us all, especially Msgr. White, Father Emilio, Deacon Ron, Deacon Rudy, David Barrera (our wonderful music director) and all the clergy and religious who work so hard to make this a very close FAMILY, because in God's eyes, we are all brothers and sisters. Love. Peace. Faith.

Dear Fr. Larry,

It's been a year since I first arrived at St.Cyril and Methodius on their feast day. So much has happened and I truly miss worshiping with everyone. In particular, I miss the wonderful music of David.

I heard your advertisement for the Mariachi Mass on the radio and thought it was great and what prompted me to write.

Thank you for my time there. Fr. Emilio led me to the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament and in a few more months I will move into the convent. He and I are still in touch and I keep you all in my prayers. Please say hello to Msgr. Meaney, Lupe, Hopie and the dear friends who attend daily Mass.

I pray you are feeling well and will stop by some Saturday to enjoy a spirit filled liturgy with you. God bless and take care. Gail Newcomb PS I have been through the archives at the convent and saw pictures of you with the sisters 30 years ago. You were very attentive and looked great!

Hello,

My name is Todd Matthews. I am with the Center for Missing & Exploited Women.

http://www.cmew.com/

The CMEW is a Catholic based organization headquartered in Princeton, Indiana.

I was ask to join the CMEW a couple of years ago after the founders saw my work on the Tent Girl case of Georgetown, Ky. The Tent Girl was an unknown deceased found by my father in law in 1968. After searching for several years and finally taking my search online, I was able to identify the Tent Girl. This URL has background info on the Tent Girl:

http://www.netzone.com/~holmes/wall/ttg.html

After seeing first hand how many other unknown deceased are out there (40+ in Kentucky alone) I decided to create a database for the unknown deceased so that it could be cross referenced with missing persons files. I call the database The Lost & The Found:

http://web.qx.net/aubriana/main.html

Usually, the CMEW confines it's cases to ONLY women. However, one case in particular did catch my personal attention. The body of a man was found in April 1981 at Camp Nelson, Kentucky.

The man was wearing dress clothes and had a Catholic pendant . We realize that this does not mean that this man was Catholic. But it is a possibility and I feel that I should contact people in the Catholic Community to see if anyone has a possible answer to identifying this man.

He was found at the base of a cliff. The badly decomposed body was estimated to have been there for 5-6 months. He was wearing a leather jacket, brown pants, blue shirt and slick soled dress shoes. Obviously not the type of dress for hiking or climbing.

We have more precise information on the remains if someone has a possible match.

1981 was a long time ago ..but the tent girl missing from her family for 30 years and we were able to find her family.

If you would please pass this information along, hopefully we will be able to identify this man and contact his family. I am in the process of e-mailing this information to every Catholic group that has e-mail.

I have direct communication with Kentucky's State Medical Examiner's office. Any information we receive will be brought to their attention.

I can be reached by e-mail at : JTMatthews@TwLakes.Net

I have had the pleasure to visit SS. Cyril and Methodius Church 3 times already. I have attended the 10:00 a.m. mass for children. I really enjoy the welcoming and the way they have all the kids learn the Word of God. Having the clown helps so much because it makes the children very attentive. I noticed this past week that it was very quiet when the clown is around. I really enjoy attending SS. Cyril and Methodius Church.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Please pray for Father Robert Moses, an assistant pastor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 W. Lemon St., Lakeland, FL. You may reach him at (863)-682-0555, or Fax-(863)-686-9546. He has done me a great deal of harm through his malicious and slanderous gossip about my personal and professional life, insulting my deceased fiance, an Air Force test pilot who died in the service of his country and my mother and her Jewish heritage.

I hope God will show him how to become more kind, discreet, understanding and considerate of others as a priest.

Thank you and God bless you! Sincerely, Michele Scanlon

My family and I visited SSCM this summer and attended the Children's Mass. My two teenagers thought it was great and wished we could have stayed for the LIFETEEN mass that evening. We have talked many times about the very special closeness we felt while worshipping at SSCM. The parishioners are filled with the Holy Spirit. We look forward to returning soon for a LIFETEEN mass. Hi Msgr. Larry!

It's Gail Newcomb again at the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament convent. I just want to thank all the life teen group at SSCM for the work they are doing on the 2nd weekend of each month in feeding the homeless people at the Maurin Day House at 1608 Leopard St.

Last July, several adults from SSCM joined forces to help this shelter stay open when it was sinking! Financially they were able to pull it out from under by negotiating new rents and just asking for donations. Now with God's help they have made it grow into a wonderful ministry.

The life teens were the first group to jump in and help and for them I believe the experience has been one they will continue for a long time to come. Their enthusiasm, prayer and caring for the indigent people of our community is most inspiring.

We apprecitate all they are doing and as you know, we can be sure they will receive their rewards in God''s time.

This shelter is always in need of daytime volunteers since most people work Monday to Friday so please spread the word...to any retired or others who may be interested. Call Amy @563-6155 or email me at: gailnewocmb@hotmail.com

AGAIN....LIFE TEENS YOUR ARE GREAT!!! GOD BLESS.

Thank you for the lovely way the church is looking with all the renovations. Todays mass was about the son who left and squandered the inheritance his father left him then returned and was welcomed with open arms and a feast to celebrate his return to his fathers house and God's rules....I wanted to thank the visiting priest Chavvarria who used the movie "the Lion King" to illustrate how we can always come back to our "Father's house". Our little girl could relate to that (6 yrs old), it's so important for the children to understand the service. Thank you again and hurray for visiting priest Chavvarria.

DearParishoners,

Today is Veteran's Day The price of freedom comes with a hefty price. At 7:15pm April 15,86 my family was cruising down SPID to the Naval Hospital's emergency room, minor emergency, when on the radio the news came that the USS America(aircraftcarrier)and it's battle group was attacking Lybia. It was a very scary gut wrenching feeling for my bride. My family went through quiete a few simular of these situations in twenty years. But they understood and accepted that I loved my country and defending it was a matter of loyalty. I will never forget these great words of two presidents John F.Kennedy,(Naval Academy commencements 1963) "Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile...can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction,k "I served in the United States Navy."

George H.W.Bush (NavalAcademy commencements 1992) The men and women of the United States Navy... will keep America safe inthe century ahead as they have in the century now coming to a close."

Let us pray for the defenders of our freedom and never forget.

He is jubial and is a very great speaker. He doesn't have notes as some of the past priests had. He speaks from the heart and if any of you have the opportunity to come to North Texas, please stop by and visit our parish here. We are celebrating our 100th year as being in existence. I will be something to be a part of.

**All Scripture quotations and references are taken from the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Translation of the Catholic New Testament and the Douay Version of the Old Testament**

THE TRUE CHURCH The Roman Catholic Church claims to be God's true Church and all members are to promise obedience to the Bishop of Rome, whom she claims is successor to Saint Peter, Prince of the Apostles and Vicar of Jesus Christ.

The Roman Catholic Church is built on the assumption that in Matthew 16:13-19 Jesus appointed Peter the first pope and so founded His Church and established the papacy. If this is true, then all true Christians must become Catholic. If it is false, the whole Catholic religion is false and cultic and no true Christians could be identified with such a system. We must, then, search the Scriptures in order to know what is true.

The Scriptures are not merely the writings of men, “But holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (II Peter 1:21). “All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproving, for correcting, for instructing in justice; that the man of God may be perfect, equipped for every good work: (II Timothy 3:16-17). “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words (the Bible) shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). Both Scripture and history testify to the authenticity, reliability, efficiency, and sufficiency of the Bible. Though some Catholic translations are better than others, all are reliable enough for general study with Catholics.

When Jesus, in Matthew 16:18, said, "Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" He used the demonstrative "this" (taute), pointing to Peter's confession, "Thou are the Christ, the Son of the living God" as the rock. Jesus said, "Thou are Peter (petros, a stone - all believers are stones, see I Peter 2:5 and Ephesians 2:21), and upon this rock (petra, a huge rock foundation - the confession that Jesus is the Christ), I will build my church". He did not promise to build His Church upon Peter. Jesus would not have trusted such a precious possession as His Church to the leadership of even one fallible man much less a whole succession of them.

The pope of Rome is called the Vicar of the Son of God (Vicarius Filii Dei). In the Bible we find that the Holy Spirit, not a pope, was sent to take the place of Jesus on earth. That is what Vicar means.

The Holy Spirit was given to guide us into all truth (John 16:7-15) and the Scriptures were given for teaching, for reproving, for correction, and for instruction (II Timothy 3:16). Christ did not leave His Church to human leadership. Jesus Himself is still the Head of His Church. He speaks to us through His infallible Word, the Holy Scriptures, by His ever present and infallible Holy Spirit.

Let us remember that Christ is the Rock and only Head of the Church. I Corinthians 3:11. For other foundation no one can lay, but that which has been laid, which is Christ Jesus. I Corinthians 10:4. The rock was Christ. Ephesians 1:22,23. Head over all the Church. Ephesians 2:20. Christ Jesus... the chief corner stone.

Around thirty-four times in the Old Testament God is call a Rock or the Rock of Israel. You see, the Bible clearly teaches that when Jesus founded His Church, He was to be the only Head, the Holy Spirit the Vicar and Guide, and the Bible the only authority for faith and practice. All true Christians constitute THE TRUE CHURCH (those in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, who believe and obey Christ's teachings). True believers were called "Christians", not "Catholics". Acts 11:26 Disciples were first called Christians. Acts 26:28 Persuade me to become a Christian. I Peter 4:16 Suffer as a Christian There were no Roman Catholics until Christianity was merged with paganism into a state religion around 315 A.D. The true Christians obeyed God's Word, they never joined in the pagan corruption. The gates of hell have never prevailed against the true believers, they are few, their way is narrow, they would rather suffer martyrdom than compromise the Word of God or deny their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. "Go out from her, my people, that you may not share in her sins, and that you may not receive of her plagues" (Apocalypse 18:4). Believers must not be identified with compromising or counterfeit Churches!

THE POPE The Pope is called "Our Holy Father". See encyclical letter of Pope Leo XIII in the Douay Version of the Bible. He is also called "Our Most Holy Lord", Pope Pius X. See Cardinals Oath.

Moreri, a famous historian said, "To make war against the Pope is to make war against God, seeing the Pope is God and God is the Pope". Decius said, "The Pope can do all things God can do". Pope Leo XIII said of himself, "The supreme teacher in the Church is the Roman Pontiff. Union of minds, therefore, requires, together with a perfect accord in the one faith, complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to the Roman Pontiff, as to God himself." Pope Pius X said, "The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ himself hidden under the veil of the flesh. Does the Pope speak? It is Jesus Christ who speaks." Pope Pius XI once declared, "You know that I am the Holy Father, the representative of God on earth, the Vicar of Christ, which means that I am God on the earth." All this is blasphemy! Isaiah 44:8 Is there a God or any rock besides me? Matthew 23:9 Call no one on earth your father. Ephesians 4:5 One Lord. Philippians 2:11 Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father. I Peter 5:3 Nor yet as lording it over your charges.

I Peter 5:1-4 I, your fellow-presbyter.

Peter called himself a presbyter (pastor), not a pope. He refused honor (Acts 10:25,26) saying "Stand up for I myself also am a man". The apostles argued regarding who was greatest in the kingdom (Matthew 18:1) which indicates that even they did not accept Peter as head of the Church.

The wealth and power of the Roman Popes could have come to Peter or any of the apostles. They had charisma, they could heal and raise the dead and perform many other miracles.

They could have accumulated gold and land and conquering armies, but they gave away all that was placed at their feet (Acts 4:37, 3:6). They rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 5:41). How could anyone be so naive as to think that the papacy evolved out of such humility and simplicity.

The office of Pope is of pagan origin and cannot in any way be substantiated in Scripture. Because of the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit, such an office is not necessary or even desirable.

THE PRIESTHOOD The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christ ordained the twelve apostles to the priesthood at the Last Supper and that the powers of the priesthood were handed down during the past two thousand years. This teaching is clearly contrary to the Word of God.

In the Old Testament the work of Christ was prefigured under the three offices of prophet, priest and king. The nation of Israel had each office. With the coming of Christ each of these offices found its fulfillment in Him. Thus in the New Testament there is no need for a human sacrificing priesthood. John 19:30. It is consummated. I Timothy 2:5. There is one God, and one Mediator...Christ Jesus. Hebrews 7:24. Because he continues forever, has an everlasting (non-transferable, intransmissible) priesthood. Hebrews 7:25. He lives always to make intercession.

Hebrews 7:27. He does not need to offer sacrifices daily. Hebrews 9:12. Having obtained eternal redemption. Hebrews 10:10. We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. I Corinthians 12:28. God indeed has placed some in the Church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers...(no mention of sacramental priests). Ephesians 4:11. He Himself gave some men as apostles, and some as prophets, others again as evangelists, and others as pastors and teachers...(again no mention of sacramental priests). I Peter 5:1-3. I, your fellow-presbyter and witness...(Nothing about being a priest).

The office of priest is not the same as minister. The concept of a mediating, sacrificing priesthood originated and developed under Cyprian, the theological authority in the West until the time of Augustine, and was part of the merger of paganism with Christianity. Nowhere in the Scriptures will one find evidence of a mediating, sacrificing priesthood after Christ.

THE MASS The Roman Catholic Church teaches that the Mass is the unbloody sacrifice of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. It also teaches that the Mass is the same sacrifice as that of the Cross. Both are against God's teaching. Hebrews 7:27. He died once for all. Hebrews 9:11-15. He entered once for all. Hebrews 9:26. Once for all. Hebrews 9:28. Christ offered once. Hebrews 10:10. Once for all. Hebrews 10:11,12. One sacrifice for sins. Hebrews 10:14. For by one offering. Hebrews 10:15-20. There is no longer offering for sin.

If Christ is offered again by Roman Catholic priests as they claim, then the above Scriptures are not true. There are more than 100,000 Masses said all over the world every day. Jesus suffers the terrible agony of Calvary at least 100,000 times every twenty-four hours instead of "once for all" as the Scriptures teach. We must believe the Scriptures. If we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to follow His Word, we will have no regard for the teaching that the bread and wine are "changed" into the body and blood of Christ and then presented to God as a sacrifice by which God is appeased and atonement of sin is made. When Jesus said, "This is my body" or "blood", He did not "change" the substance, but was explaining that He is the one "represented" by the Passover bread and wine. Jesus did not say touto gignetai, this has become or is turned into, but touto esti, which can only mean this represents or stands for. Just as the Passover was a remembrance, so is Communion of the Lord's Supper a remembrance until He comes. The Roman Church, in advocating the doctrine of transubstantiation, departs from the literal sense of Scripture. May we be able to say with the Apostle Paul: "We at least, are not, as many others, adulterating the Word of God." (II Corinthians 2:17)

CONFESSION OR THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE The Roman Catholic Church teaches that her priests exercise the power of forgiving sins by hearing confession of sins and granting pardon for them as ministers of God and in His name.

This teaching is not from the Bible. I Esdras 10:11. Now make confession to the Lord the God of your fathers.

This is from the Bible! Mark 2:7. Who can forgive sins, but only God. Acts 4:12. Neither is there salvation in any other.

Acts 8:12. Repent...and pray to God. (Peter did not hear his confession and forgive him, but said, "pray to God".) I John 1:7. The Blood of Jesus Christ...cleanses us from all sin. I John 1:9. If we acknowledge our sins. (To God, not to a priest - automatic confession and absolution.) I John 2:1. If anyone sins we have an advocate (Jesus) with the Father.

Throughout the Bible remission of sin and salvation are connected with faith in Christ, nowhere with priestly absolution. In order to support her tribunal upon earth, the Roman Catholic Church mis-interprets Matthew 16:19, "I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven". Also Matthew 18:18, "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound also in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven". And John 20:23, "Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained". First of all, the "keys of the kingdom" refers to the authority to proclaim the terms of salvation in Christ. This is the privilege and duty of all Christian believers. The authority to bind and loose is first and foremost the commission to proclaim the gospel which liberates those who believe it, and consigns to bondage those who reject it. The Roman Catholic Church misinterprets this text in order to support the practice of confessing sins to a priest. The Biblical context clearly indicates, however, that the words of Matthew 16:19, 18:18, and John 20:23 were not only spoken to the apostles but also to those believers who were with them. Christian ministers are to preach repentance, but nothing is said about hearing confession and the granting of absolution (forgiveness of sins).

JUSTIFICATION The most important question pertinent to religion is, "how may a man obtain the forgiveness of (his) sins?" Here is where the most significant deviation occurs. The Bible teaches that "faith" secures the remission of sins (Acts 10:43) while Roman Catholicism teaches that the "sacraments" (in addition to faith) do. We must be very precise here for the Apostle Paul said that any different way of salvation, even if given by an angel, would be accursed. Jesus said that the seed sown on good ground "understood" the way of salvation (Matthew 13:23). We urge you to embrace the Lord's way and let go of the former way. The Scripture says, "Having been justified therefore by faith, let us have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).

One Catholic writer in defending his Church made a statement that we all should heed. He said that if faith alone saves "the whole traditional structure of Catholism is a needless empty show, the Mass, the sacraments, the sacrificing priesthood, the teaching hierarchy, the papacy, practices of penance, asceticism, habits of self-restraint, prayer. Nay, these things are a hindrance, an enormous sham, a terrible system of lies, and therefore to be utterly swept away and destroyed." Philip Hughes, A POPULAR HISTORY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, p. 176.

True Biblical Christianity rejects the notion that salvation is a moral process, that the sinner is "made" just, or "works out" his salvation by his own deeds.

Heed what God teaches in the following texts: John 3:3. Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:16. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that those who believe in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting. John 5:24. He who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has life everlasting, and does not come to judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 14:6 Jesus told him: "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but Through Me. Acts 4:12. Neither is there salvation in any other.

Romans 4:5. but to him who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the impious, his faith is credited to him. Romans 4:6. David declares the blessedness of the man to whom God credits justice without works. Romans 3:28. We reckon that a man is justified by faith independently of the works of the Law. Romans 5:1. Having been justified therefore by faith. Romans 10:3. Ignorant of the justice of God, and seeking to establish their own, they have not submitted to the justice of God. Titus 3:5. Not by reason of good works that we did ourselves, but according to his mercy...

Prayer: Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus I ask forgiveness of my sins. I give my life to you that I may receive the Son and that the Holy Spirit may work in me to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Because your Word says so, I believe that You have heard my prayer and have forgiven my sins. I promise to study and obey the Scriptures so that my knowledge and faith can increase. Amen.

1965 Cardinal Newman, in his book, THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION, admits that "temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, holidays, and seasons of devotion, processions, blessings of fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests and monks and nuns), images .. are all of pagan origin." (p.359) Yet, we are told that to practice these traditions is to make void the Word of God (Matthew 15:16), to worship in vain (Matthew 15:9). Also see II John 9-10.

The Bible itself declares that the way of salvation is so plain that even "fools shall not err therein" (Isaiah 35:8). When the blind lead the blind, both fall...(Matthew 15:14). The urgent need of our day is to search the never changing Scriptures to see if what popes, cardinals, bishops, priests, minister, and teachers tell us is the truth or not. In apostolic days this was done: "Now these were a nobler character than those of Thessalonica and they received the word with great eagerness, studying the Scriptures every day to see whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). Those who do not teach and preach the Gospel as it is found in the Scriptures are under the curse of God. "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel to you other than that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema!" (Galatians 1:8). Do not be deceived by false teachers. See Colossians 2:8. Test everything! (I Thessalonians 5:21)

These Biblical truths are offered in a spirit of true Christian love. We ask you to consider them objectively so that with the Psalmist you can declare, "I have chosen the way of truth" (Psalm 118:30).

Find a Bible teaching church. Ask GOD to help you find a church. Ask GOD to help you understand the Bible.

"JESUS"

Jesus began His ministry by being hungry . . . Yet He is the Bread of Life.

Jesus ended His earthly ministry by being thirsty . . . Yet He is the Living Water.

Jesus was weary . . . Yet He is our rest.

Jesus paid tribute . . . Yet He is the King.

Jesus was accused of having a demon . . . Yet He cast out demons.

Jesus wept . . . Yet He wipes away our tears.

Jesus was sold for thirty pieces of silver . . . Yet He redeemed the world.

Jesus was brought as a lamb to the slaughter . . . Yet He is the Good Shepherd.

Jesus died . . . Yet by His death He destroyed the power of death.

"When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, & the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?'" 1 Cor 15:54-55 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 1 Cor 15:54-55 KJV

GRACE FOUNDATION is a registered, non-profit, non governmental relegious charitable organizations motive, Social Service organization promoted is 1996 by a band of social minded and dedicated Christian Youth hailing from the traditional Christian families in rural society and having clear insight into socio-economic and health problems faced by the women and children in the urban slums and rural communities in Mannachanallur block of Trichy district. Grace Foundation is registered as charitable society under Tamil Nadu State Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975. Our FCRA Registration Number is 076040258.

2. MAIN ACTIVITIES OF GRACE FOUNDATION :

i) Physiotherapy center for physically and mentally Disabled children.

ii) Mini Health center for the rural poor who have no access to Govt. Medical center.

iii) Family counseling center.

3. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT :

These are increasing number of physically and mentally disabled children in our target area. It is due to various reasons such as illiteracy, poverty, malnutrition of pregnant and lactating mothers, lack of ANC, NC and PNC services, get married in close blood relation at teen age, get married soon after attaining puberty etc. This state of affairs prompt us to undertake curative, preventive and rehabilitative measures for the benefit of the disabled children with the support of local donors and contribution from the well-wishers. Our physiotherapy center named “GRACE Foundation Physiotherapy Center” plays a dominant role in providing therapeutically treatment to the affected children in the age group of 2 – 10 years to recover from the disability. It incurs heavy expenses on purchase of disability aids, such as crutches, calipers, shoes, tri-cycle for the benefit of the children who are treated at our center. Due to financial constraint, the Govt. Rehabilitation Department provide such disability aid to a few of them referred by our center.

Hence, we are in a dire need of financial support to purchase the disability aids for the benefit of the 60 disabled children who receive therapeutically treatment from our Grace Foundation Center located at Samayapuram.

My daughter lives in Corpus Christie, and when I visit her, I am sure to attend the 12:00 Mariachi mass. I love the mass and the music----it is so beautiful and spiritual. I live in Tn. and we are not priviledged to such a beautiful service.

I know that the mariachi band was making a tape of the mass and I would like to be notified when it becomes available. Thank you and God Bles All.

Sincerly,

Evelyn Lynn

Good afternoon.

I attended Mass at SS.Cyril and Methodius on Sunday, November 9 at 6 p.m. What a wonderful experience!

What a wonderful group of young people! Mass was heartfelt and was greeted in a welcoming environment within your community. The Holy Spirit was definitely present. May God continue to bless your leadership and complete Church community. Be sure that my next trip to Corpus Christi will include Mass at your Parish.

I work with youth at home in Holland, Michigan everyday within the schools and community of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. I want to congratulate you all on your 10 years of the Life Teen Program. I left your Parish inspired by the visible work you have accomplished.

Dear fellow Parishinors,

I forgot to thank everyone for the great success on the Knights of Columbus BBQ on Sept. 29th. We actually had some left this year. Special thanks to all the brothers that were there through thick and thin cooking all "knight". This is our only fundraiser and it has enabled us to live up to our first order of "Charity" in a great way.

This year we have committed to funding the replacement of existing old water fountains at the school. We will also be helping our BSA troop 289 boys financially for summer camp.

As the right-hand of our priest we will always be ready and willing to give of ourselves for Monsignor, Father Victor, and the parish. It's just the right thing to do!

The Thanksgiving Dinner was a grand success thanks to all. Special thanks to Brother Manuel for his guidance and Hopie for doing so much. I think we made Monsignor's day.

Be special Be a Knight!

God Bless.

Carlos B. Benavides

My family and I attended Saturday evening mass recently and have done so several times before in the past year. You have a beautiful church and blessed services. I most especially enjoy the music. Your organist/pianist is tremendous and I am just in awe every time I hear him play and sing. Our hometown church plays nice music but there is something about yours that brings tears. (It is not the traditional hymns I am used to.) I could not find a name in your bulletin to address this to directly but I did want to share these comments. We will continue to attend mass at your church as often as we come to Corpus. Thanks! Sincerely, Susan & Keith Opela and family

I am very familiar with the Christian zelots attempt to discontinue the Halloween observances in schools. I wonder if they have ever considered where Christman came from. It was a pagan festival season that revolved around sex, drunkness, and gluttany. Sort of sounds familiar doesn't it. Jim Lawrence
